Citizens Helping the Fire & EMS

Citizens advocates who aid departments in non-operational activities allow first responders to focus their efforts on the most critical, life-threatening situations. Everyone can do something to support their local fire and emergency service department.

Some ways to assist are:

  1. Promote fire safety and prevention in schools

  2. Develop websites or computer programs for the department

  3. Aid in preparing communities to respond to emergencies and disasters of all kinds including threats of terrorism, fire, public health issues, etc., especially during major events when response agencies may be overwhelmed

  4. Grant writing

  5. Assist with public relations

  6. Provide administrative and clerical support

  7. Assist with foreign language translation of safety literature

  8. Provide assist as a member of the Clergy

These are just a few way citizens can assist the fire department
